We Love South Austin
So just where is South Austin? Broadly speaking, South Austin is the part of town that’s south of Lady Bird Lake, which is what we call the segment of the Colorado River that runs through the middle of town.
But South Austin isn’t just a place. It’s a mindset. It’s a lifestyle. And, after living all over town, it’s the place that feels like home for us. We love this easygoing, welcoming community, and we know it inside and out. We also love putting all of our know-how to use to help our fellow South Austinites sell their homes and to find ideal homes for our new South Austin neighbors.
These are just a few of our favorite things about South Austin:
Local Flavor
Vegetarian: The classic go-tos are Boudin Creek Cafe and Casa de Luz which have been around for decades.
Barbecue: So many good choices: Leroy and Lewis, Terry Black’s, and Moreno’s.
Dessert: Nothing compared to the decadent now defunct Cake Shake at Holy Cacao, South First Trailer Park.
DIY South Austin Food Tour: From South Congress Avenue and Annie Street, just start walking. Pop in and have a course at a few different places that look inviting. One option: Aba, Joann’s, Perla’s.
The Great
Outdoors
Our favorite annual event isn’t South by Southwest or the Austin City Limits Music Festival. It’s Zilker Kite Fest, held each March at Zilker Park. Pure joy!
You don’t have to get out of town to explore nature thanks to the Barton Creek Greenbelt, where you can mountain bike, hike and discover the falls and swimming holes.
Good Times
Austin has a thriving craft beer scene. One of the best ways to enjoy it? Throw yourself a birthday party at Jester King Brewery.
Of course, we’re also known for our nightlife and live music. See why by visiting Moontower Saloon and Sam’s Town Point.

Since 2005, we’ve been involved in the Austin Studio Tour in one form or another: as a multi-year sponsor, as co-creator of the South Austin Homes custom mini-tour, as a host, as an artist stop, and of course as guests and art collectors. This event features literally hundreds of South Austin artists who open up their studios and is the “don’t miss” event in Austin in our humble opinion.
